Seagulls 11 in. x 14 in. Oil On Panel
This is a group of seagulls on the rocks on the coast of Monhegan Island in Maine. This was mid-morning and the fog from the water was beginning to lift and direct sunlight was beginning to hit the objects on the shore. I hope that you enjoy it!

Seascape - Watercolorist On Monhegan
Watercolorist On Monhegan 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel
This is a watercolor painter working on the rocks and shoreline on Monhegan Island in Maine. This scene is fairly early in the morning with a mostly overcast sky and the morning fog still lifting from the water. I really liked the rocks and all of the gray's in the composition. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

This seascape is near the end of Pemequid Point in Maine, with the unseen lighthouse behind the viewer. This was on an overcast and rainy morning before the fog had lifted.

Daily Painting - Seascape - Bell House At Pemequid Point Maine
Bell House At Pemequid Point Maine 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel
This is the old bell house at the Pemequid Point lighthouse near New Harbor, Maine. This came from a trip to Maine a while back. The rocky point that this bell house sits on has the Pemequid lighthouse on it and is unbelievably beautiful. Probably thousands of people have painted the lighthouse over the years. Andrew Wyeth painted it several times in the 1960's. I wanted to try the bell house with the fog lifting. I hope that you enjoy the painting.

Daily Painting - Still Life - Doorknob, Spoon, And Thread
Doorknob, Spoon, And Thread 5 in. x 7 in. Oil On Panel
This is an old glass doorknob, an antique silver spoon, and a spool of red thread. We have had several of these old glass doorknobs laying around the house for years. I finally decided to paint one of them. For this composition I put the spoon in to give some horizontal balance to the painting and I thought that the red thread added interesting color. I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Landscape - Morning River Fog
Morning River Fog 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel
These are two kayaks on the Caney Fork in the morning fog. The river was up all weekend due to generation at Center Hill Dam from all of the rain in middle TN this summer. I saw these two people, a father and his daughter, floating down the river towards the Happy Hollow ramp in the morning fog. I thought that all of the green on the hills and the morning fog made an interesting composition. I hope that you enjoy the painting!

This is a fly fisherman on the Caney Fork river in Tennessee. This guy was fishing part of the river when our group that was kayak fishing stopped for a break. He walked by in his waders with his gear and I thought that he would make an interesting painting. I hope that you enjoy it.

Daily Painting - Landscape - River Limb
River Limb 11 in. x 14 in. Oil On Linen Canvas On Panel
This is a limb above a gravel river bank on the Caney Fork. The light on a river in the hills is interesting. The river cuts out the rock on the shoreline and the trees overhang the water creating darkness near the half-light from the sun and surrounding hills. This painting is so familiar to me, it reminds me of fishing and camping, and the jon boat that we had when I was growing up. I hope that you enjoy it!

Daily Painting - Landscape - Kayaks And Canoe
Kayaks And Canoe 8 in. x 10 in. Oil On Panel
These are two kayaks and a canoe. The painting came from a recent fishing trip down part of the Caney Fork river with several friends. This river is a really good trout stream. This day wasn't tremendous for fishing for us, but the weather was perfect and it was a good trip. We had stopped for a break on a gravel bank for a few minutes and the composition for this painting came from our colorful boats on the bank. I hope that you enjoy the painting.

Still Life - Needle, Thread, And Pewter Cup
Needle, Thread, And Pewter Cup 8 in. x 14 in. Oil On Panel
This is an old pewter cup that I had in my studio and a spool of red thread. I had used this cup in a painting a few days ago and I decided to paint it again and pair it with something of bright color to contrast with the grayish colors of the cup. The idea hit me to use thread as the second object in the painting and to try to tie the two objects together with the long shadow and the thin red thread that I unwound from the spool. For me this is an interesting composition. I hope that you enjoy it!
